FS22 Waters of Roman Soil | Exercise 2: Rule-based Design.

During this four-weeks exercise inside of the Studio Waters of Roman Soil, the students explored the possibilities of developing a rule-based system as the base for their design proposals.

The process started by researching on different techniques of regenerative agriculture, identifying what are the parameters and rules that define their logics as systematic interventions, for later learning how to translate these parameters into dynamic diagrams using the tool Grasshopper.

Grounded on this research, each student defined the set of rules—combination of scales in space and time, constraints, and different relationships between living entities—to which the design of their system will respond.
