Cartographies of Living Systems FS21: Drawing Trees

As part of the assignments in the Cartographies of Living Systems FS21 course, the students were asked to translate the photographs of two trees into a drawing based on the language for trees developed by the Chair of Being Alive.

Fagus sylvatica in open and forest conditions.

During this reading-translation process from a photograph to a diagram, they analysed what might be the current stage of development of the trees and how their behaviour while growing has been directly influenced by the conditions of the surroundings, showing as examples two trees from the same species in different conditions: in a forest and isolated.
