Understanding a Place by Looking at its Soil, NSL Newsletter.
Stefan Breit, Uxía Varela, Insa Streit (2022).
Article published by the Chair of Being Alive in the NSL Newsletter ‘Place’ about our approach to the topic of place during the Fieldwork Week organised last August at Cima Città.
"Doing fieldwork – such as the study of soil, vegetation, or other living systems – is an essential task in the discipline of landscape architecture. It helps to understand and translate the existing conditions of a place to uncover its potential for future transformations. The Chair of Being Alive has organized a one-week residency in the Blenio Valley (Ticino) to learn and experiment with fieldwork methods."
Analysis, documentation and translation of soil sampling, soil chromatography and soil underwear test undertaken during the one-week workshop at Cima Città. Chair of Being Alive, 2022.
